Africana Virtual Story Time: Of African American Poetry

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The Auburn Avenue Research Library (AARL) will present a virtual Africana Story Time reading of Ashley Bryan’s ABC of African-American Poetry.

"And God stepped out on space, And he looked around and said: I'm lonely -- I'll make me a world." -- James Weldon Johnson, thus begins Coretta Scott King Award-winner Ashley Bryan's collection of inspiring excerpts of poems by celebrated African American poets. Beautifully illustrated with his own tempera and gouache paintings, Ashley Bryan's unique alphabet book will delight readers of any age.

Africana Virtual Storytime presents the scope and breadth of AARL’s collection of illustrated Africana children’s literature -empowering educators, parents, and caregivers with the resources and skills to share stories of the diasporic Black experience with children.
