About Michelle:

“Michelle Joy” Pearcy was born in Detroit, Michigan and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Michigan, School of Literature, Science, and the Arts. After leaving the university, she began a lifelong artistic journey designing and constructing custom apparel, designing wheelthrown and hand-built pottery, writing, and photography. Every element of Michelle’s artistic expression has been self-taught. Also drawn to science and technology, Michelle enjoyed a career over three decades in infrastructure in public and private sector roles, where she became a Vice President for a global architecture, design, and construction firm.

Diversity of art has taken up Michelle’s passion, which has been supported by the challenge of moving between the arts and sciences without compromising one for the other. She often looks to nature for inspiration and feels immensely fortunate to have been able to be close to nature while working in artistic and technical ‘worlds’ in many destinations.

The work from her autumn 2023 Artist in Residence in Czech Republic is entitled “Ripples,” and is currently being featured in a group exhibition called, LOUDER, at The Gallery of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. The exhibition runs until the end of March. Visit Michelle’s website, I Was Just Saying To Myself, for example collections of her work and musings at:
