About Curtis L. Todd:
Curtis L. Todd is a street photographer who also enjoys lensing nature and architectural subjects. His education and training as a social scientist have uniquely positioned him to identify and capture dynamic images that solicit public discourse about human ecosystems and our shared experiences.
When not interrogating urban, community, and woodland environments with his camera, Todd is a Professor in the School of Arts and Sciences at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. He is also a writer and practitioner of narrative and civic poetry. Ultimately, he is an artistic explorer and storyteller who leverages photographs and words to engage and inspire people to take a closer look at their communal and private spaces.
Todd has populated his studio with digital photographs from six of his evolving series to present a focused collection of captivating images. Thematically, his Arts in Residency installation can be branded under the banner, “Let Me Tell You A Story: Narratives through Photographs and The Written Word.” The title reflects Todd’s use of poetry and prose at times to enhance the emerging themes in his photographs. This is the first time many of the images have been exhibited.
A new, ongoing series will also be launched during his Residency. Until January 2025, Todd will explore, actively photograph, and curate the collection, “These Hands Put In Work and Have Something To Say.” The aim is to create photographic narratives that individually and collectively reflect the simplicity and complexities of life. When, where, and how we show up in the universe will be represented through his images of hands that are all at once subtle, unexpectant, yet compelling. These photographs will also be available for viewing by the public as the collection evolves.
