Two Worlds, One Heritage: The Afro-Latino Experience in America (Online Session)

This dynamic panel explores the rich intersections of African and Latin American identities, highlighting the lived experiences of Afro-Latinos in the United States. Featuring prominent Atlanta voices who proudly embrace both their African and Latin roots, the discussion examines culture, community, and visibility within the broader African diaspora. Panelists will reflect on how history, migration, and language shape identity and belonging in a country that often overlooks Afro-Latino narratives. Together, they illuminate the power of reclaiming heritage and redefining what it means to be both Black and Latino in contemporary America.

  • Joel Alvarado, Vice President of Strategy and Engagement with Partnership for Southern Equity
  • Moraima “Mo” Ivory, Fulton County Commissioner District #4
  • Victor Simmons Jr., Library Administrator at Auburn Avenue Research Library
  • Rev. Louis Negron Sr., Founder & Principal Consultant of Mission Align Consulting
