This month we're exploring the cinema history that inspired the makers of "Andor".
This week we enter the world of the Resistance in World War II occupied France. This 1969 film was controversial on its release and overlooked for many years, but thankfully director Jean-Pierre Melville's work was eventually reappraised. It was finally restored and released in the US in 2006 to great acclaim. It is an unromantic and grim story of the deadly reality Resistance members worked in. No one can fully be trusted, only the cause. It can be seen in the story of Luthen Rael and the Ghorman spy cells.
