In Summer 2026, the Joan P. Garner Library at Ponce De Leon will be hosting workshops on Georgia History, specifically New South Georgia (1865 – early 1900s). We will have items on loan from the Atlanta History Center, through their traveling trunk program.
Patrons will have a chance to learn more about Alonzo Herndon, soldiers and their lives during the civil war, Atlanta Washer Women’s Strike, and the lives of people after the end of enslavement. Patrons will be able to interact with interesting historical objects, receive book and resource recommendations from the librarian, and learn about Georgia History.
Program is open to all ages. Caregivers must remain with child at all times.
