Great Books to Read to Newborns

Reading books to your infant is as important as reading to them when they are a toddler or young child! Reading to babies, toddlers, and young children helps with language and cognitive development, increases vocabulary and pre-reading skills, and hones conceptual development. A study done by the Psychology Department at the University of Florida suggest that, for infants, sharing books that name different characters may lead to higher-quality shared book reading experiences and result in increased learning and brain development benefits. Babies have good color vision by five months of age, so infants do well with high contrast pictures, like black against white and bold colors.
