Celebrate the Birth of Jazz

April is Jazz Appreciation Month. Yes this is commonly known, but why April? Could the reason be because so many legendary Jazz Musicians were born in April? The list of names include Ella Fitzgerald (April 25, 1918), Billie Holiday (April 7, 1915), Charles Mingus (April 22, 1922), Herbie Hancock (April 12, 1940) and Duke Ellington (April 29 1899). In observance of Jazz Appreciation Month, the Auburn Avenue Research Library is celebrating the many jazz legends born in the month of April.
